Our Founder’s Vision
Folakemi T. Odedina, PhD established CaPTC based on her commitment to foster international collaboration among researchers, clinicians, and institutions to address the challenges posed by prostate cancer and eliminate cancer disparities, especially in ethnically diverse Black populations.
The goal is to enhance prostate cancer research efforts by pooling together resources, expertise, and diverse perspectives from both sides of the Atlantic. Through this collaborative approach, CaPTC aims to accelerate scientific discoveries, improve patient outcomes, and ultimately reduce the burden of prostate cancer worldwide.
About Prostate Cancer Transatlantic Consortium (CaPTC)
Because the problem of prostate cancer disparity persists, it is crucial that we begin to use new paradigms and look at the problem from fresh perspectives to develop effective solutions. The possibility for exploring new paradigms comes from studying Black communities who are connected to the U.S. via the Transatlantic Slave Trade.
